My camera is on the fritz sorry no pictures as of late. Once i finish up the disposable I’ll share some fun vacation photos with you all.

I really want to go rock climbing. We haven’t done it yet…Why? I’m not sure. But I’m going to win this months competition and we are going. I already did a 50min cardio last night and now I’m sitting here eating a nice large tuna salad. I want to make sure i don’t lose any muscle so I’m making sure to eat protein with every meal. I guess that will also keep my blood sugar from spiking (headache) and then latter crashing (dizzy). This first week I’m going to focus more on exercising daily, drinking plenty of water, stretching, and eating plenty of healthy whole foods to keep hunger away. I won’t go more then 3-4 hours with out eating and will also make sure i get plenty of sleep.

In the past i always set my self up to get sick…from lack of sleep, food, water…the list goes on. I’m going to pay close attention to my body and make sure i relax…nope not take it seriously. Not that health isn’t a serious matter. I know that for me my number one weakness is stress. It’s unhealthy in all angles. I eat more, i don’t sleep, I literally get ulcers, and I’m not as happy as i could be. So I’m taking the surfers way of life and for a while. I’m just going to enjoy the ride. Relax =)

I hope you all can take even 5 min to yourself today and relax. I’ve been a workaholic from birth and it is highly over rated, and eventually inefficient, unhappy, and honestly overweight. Trust me it runs in the family and I’ve got to let it go. It’s not lazy to relax and play every now and then. It’s healthy. Time to re-program my brain, and my way of life. Live more!

What’s going to be different this time. Weekly accountability, friendly competition between me and my best friend “Hubby”, and short term goal/reward. No procrastinating allowed, and lots of fun!

    Surfing was Awesome!!!
Surf Diva Surfing School really know what they’re doing.  I got up on my second try.  I even caught a few waves all on my own.  I would say I caught at least 15 waves during our 40 min in the water. The first try i jumped up on my knees.  Natural reaction I guess. The Hubby got up on his first try.  Practice on the beach made it a lot easier once we got out there.  I use to go to the beach every year No Matter What.  Then i got married and it was no longer a priority.  I haven’t had that much salt water up my nose in a long time.  I had a tendency to jump right up on my board facing sideways with my feet flat pointing in opposite directions.  Instead of jumping up in it facing forward on my toes with my feet facing on an angle then slowly standing up while turning my feet and body sideways. (haven’t finished the disposable camera yet, but will get photo up ASAP.)

Our instructor was very laid back.  It seems to be the surfers way of life.  When they’re up their ridding the wave they are as relaxed as they look.  When you’re on the board just right you can just relax and enjoy the ride.  Fun, Fun, Fun, and relaxing yet exhausting.  The hubby now wants to go back every year for another lesson, and eventually go surf in Hawaii.  I’m all for it.  Then i can swing by and say Hi to Stephanie =)

I love being active.  Surfing re-motivated me to get into even better shape so i can surf longer then an hour without passing out =).

    Friendly Competition
The Hubby and I decided to do a little friendly competition.  We threw the scale out the window, but we both know we have a little extra fat we’re carrying around.  It would be even easier to surf with a little less un-needed weight.  So we both pinched ourselves with the Accue Calipers…measured our fat % so every week we can compare.  The winner of the week gets to pick out a RedBox and gets a foot massage.  The winner of the month gets to pick out an activity.  If i win it’s Rock Climbing.  If he wins it’s Lazar Tag.  Either was we will have lots more fun being much more active.  And, it’s a way to get me back to the gym.

    Summary:
1-Loved surfing so much we’re making it an annual tradition
2-Doing a mini body fat % competition with the Hubby
    3-Going Skiing this winter too

Yes, I wrote this early.  I won’t be able to write again until the 27th (a week after my trip) so i thought I’d do a little re-cap of my journey so far.

I started out with a goal of optimum fitness or at least what i thought was optimum fitness.  My perspectives have done a 180 and are still changing for the better every day.

    In the beginning

At first i was constantly checking my weight and even measurements at times.  The ups and downs on the scale heavily reflected the ups and downs in my self.  Low carb diets or diets when i never got a carb all by itself made me cranky and eventually made me crash emotionally and i would ultimately binge.  I had never been “on” a diet before that and finally understood why it was so hard to stay “on” one.

    The middle

Finally realized that at my lowest weight i was not happy and had no energy.  The reason i wanted to get fit was for all the things i could do.  I suddenly realized that i was healthy and that i could start doing those things now.  My ah-ha moment.  Threw the scale out the window…seriously thinking about doing a video regarding body image issues and showing me taking a sledge hammer to the scale.  “Healthy Weight Loss Therapy”  LOL!!!  Anywho,  suddenly i realized i just need to stop planning and start acting, living enjoying, and i did.  I gained 5-10 lbs and then started getting compliments left and right…wow have you lost weight, you look great.  What’s with that =)  OK, i know…i was happy and it shows and that’s what the difference was.

    The End

What??? There is no end…no ultimate goal…the “i have arrived” unless I’m done with living.  There is always more living to be done and each experience adds to part of who i am.  So now instead of planning meals, standing on scales, or staring in the mirror.  I fill my calendar with fun events and experiences.  Couldn’t be happier.  Don’t get me wrong i still pay attention to what i eat…better yet what i don’t (i always forget the veggies), and I’m constantly learning more about nutrition and health.

So here’s to Dreaming, Living, and Enjoying Life.

    What’s on the menu?

5k, rollerblading, ice skating, skiing, biking, camping, hiking, dancing, karate, singing, make my own lullaby CD, painting, drawing, guitar, swimming, teach kids swim, and lots lots more =).

Well as soon as i get home i’ll make sure to uplead my picts and share any funny experiences.  Thanks for all your support as always. I look forward to reading more about your lives as well =)

It’s finally going to happen!!!  I book surf lessons over the phone today with Surf Diva Surfing School.  I’m like a little kid on Christmas morning.  No matter how old i get i still feel like part of me is frozen at age 21 but today i feel more like 16 =)  It’s booked for Monday July 20th at 9am…then if we’re not wasted we can rent the boards and gear for another 4 hours after the lessons.  I can’t wait.  One week from today i could look like this…

Except I’m not dying my hair and….OK I’ll be doing this.  Yippee!  Seriously so excited.  Can’t wait.  And yes, there will be pictures.

    Short Update:

Loving my new Music Express cell phone.  It works perfectly as an MP3 player.  I walked another mile again today and enjoyed every minuet.  It was hot but there was a nice breeze.  It was perfect.

Suddenly I’ve got the dreaming bug.  It’s creating all sorts of new energy.  I’ve been painting, playing the guitar, and just dreaming more.  The latest is a pool.  I would love to teach art, swim, and soccer.  I’m just taking 15min here are there and living more.  It’s great!  I highly recommend it =)  Not sure who doesn’t =)  Have a great week everyone.

I’ve had a great week.  I even did a 20min Turbo Jam and ate healthy all week.  I’ve been very active and have just been living more.  I’m painting, singing, shopping, organizing, playing, exercising, oh and and and and in to weeks I’ll be finally surfing in San Diego.  My little sister is getting married and Hubby and I are heading down a few days early to enjoy the ocean and to finally take some surfing lessons.  I still need to work on my push ups, and wall sits.  Either way I’m excited.

I’m grateful for the USA and extremely grateful to all the people who fought for our freedom, and all the individuals who are still fighting for it today.

    Happy Independence Day!!!
