My biggest thing is accountability.  I just read a great post over on Tom Venuto’s Burn The Fat Blog about The Biggest Loser and i couldn’t agree more.  Almost exact opinions to what i posted a few days back but just completely written out with even more insight, and some more info that was a real eye opener.

I don’t need a weekend by myself to know what i want.  The one place i feel right at home in my element is when I’m active. It’s in my blood.  On the beach, in the gym, on the field, or up in the mountains…you name it and i love it.  I mean…i crave it.  I let myself off the hook all the time because i don’t want to get down on myself or be to hard on myself.  Whatever!  Yes, you heard me. I’m calling myself out on all my crap and I’m going to reach my goal.  I’m going to get my body fat% down to 15%.  I know that is not going to happen with out some accountability, commitment and needles to say sticking to a killer game plan.  Then I’m going to go surfing again and I’m going to enjoy every minute of it because I’ll know I reached my goal.  I’ll still do all sorts of fun active things in the mean time to also aid in the fat burning, muscle building, optimum fitness goal.  I’m ready, I’m all in, and I’m committed.  Deadline Thanks Giving.

I’ve always loved picture books.  So here’s a picture friendly post to catch up.  First off the BFL challenge started this week and so did …..ahhhhhh  i need sugar and more calories I’m tired and wasted all the time.  I wasn’t eating enough calories for my active life and man it only took one day of that to up my intake and now I’m doing great.

Hitting the gym for the first time in over a month.  I usually get plenty of practical weight lifting (1&3 year old) around the house but i know i need to get some good proper weight lifting in.  Getting there after a while of being gone is like gagging down something disgusting…until you walk in the door and suddenly…what? must be gym anxiety or something.

5 tips to help me get to the gym (wish me luck)

    1. Set out clothes
    2. Set out keys
    3. Set alarm
    4. Set out anything else you enjoy at the gym (headphones, towel)
    5. Go to bed

I had another good road trip to Idaho and the drive was my favorite part.  The sky was awesome.  Parts of the area remind me of Edinburgh minus the bugs on the windshield and the tissue tucked in the corner to keep wind from coming in…

I roasted (burnt to a crisp) some mallows with B.

I took some junk and made it into art.

baby foodQuiz: Find the three squares that don’t have a baby food lids…there are 3.  I painted them to look like they have them. Turned out pretty cool but took way to much time.

This one was my first experience with Modg-Podg and collage.  I love it. Fast fun and texture.  Turned out awesome.  Will definitely be doing this more. It’s square just a funny angled photo.

Oh, and my house is back on the market.  All-in-all I’m a little stressed out but doing art helps…exercising will help even more and give me the energy i’ve been missing.

I love soccer. The jogging stroller is still on the fritz. So i decided to not let that stop me. I used a basic stroller tossed some soccer balls in the back and had the 3 year old run along side me. We played soccer for a while at the school then played at the park.

It seems that most of the other kids are boys…ration 8:1 maybe they just need to climb on things more..who knows.

I meet Bethany who just moved here from Las Vegas. Very nice and also has 3 boys and her last on it’s way. It felt good to get out and actually be social. Although i love marching to the beat of my own drum it’s nice to meet new people now and then.

Hubby’s gone rafting with his work (nice job eh…jealous). I’m going to have fun being extra active…and because i am then I’ll enjoy some nice treat…and only my absolute favorites… Chocolate covered strawberries rolled in coconut. Oh yea it’s that good.  Here have some.

    Yummy

Mean i know.  If i knew how, i would send each of my readers a few.  Wait how is this going to help anyone get fit…LOL!  I figure if your going to eat unhealthy every once in a while that’s fine, especially with these.  Loaded with calories but at least they’re not completely empty calories.  Antioxidants from the chocolate, and strawberry, and healthy fats from the coconut…so they’re healthy right? =)

When the Boyz wake up from naps we will hit the water park. It’s mid-high 90’s this week.  A little bit cooler then usual but I want to get in as much water fun as i can for these boys…and for me.

    Happy Friday!!!

What is your absolute favorite thing to eat?

My camera is on the fritz sorry no pictures as of late. Once i finish up the disposable I’ll share some fun vacation photos with you all.

I really want to go rock climbing. We haven’t done it yet…Why? I’m not sure. But I’m going to win this months competition and we are going. I already did a 50min cardio last night and now I’m sitting here eating a nice large tuna salad. I want to make sure i don’t lose any muscle so I’m making sure to eat protein with every meal. I guess that will also keep my blood sugar from spiking (headache) and then latter crashing (dizzy). This first week I’m going to focus more on exercising daily, drinking plenty of water, stretching, and eating plenty of healthy whole foods to keep hunger away. I won’t go more then 3-4 hours with out eating and will also make sure i get plenty of sleep.

In the past i always set my self up to get sick…from lack of sleep, food, water…the list goes on. I’m going to pay close attention to my body and make sure i relax…nope not take it seriously. Not that health isn’t a serious matter. I know that for me my number one weakness is stress. It’s unhealthy in all angles. I eat more, i don’t sleep, I literally get ulcers, and I’m not as happy as i could be. So I’m taking the surfers way of life and for a while. I’m just going to enjoy the ride. Relax =)

I hope you all can take even 5 min to yourself today and relax. I’ve been a workaholic from birth and it is highly over rated, and eventually inefficient, unhappy, and honestly overweight. Trust me it runs in the family and I’ve got to let it go. It’s not lazy to relax and play every now and then. It’s healthy. Time to re-program my brain, and my way of life. Live more!

What’s going to be different this time. Weekly accountability, friendly competition between me and my best friend “Hubby”, and short term goal/reward. No procrastinating allowed, and lots of fun!

    Surfing was Awesome!!!
Surf Diva Surfing School really know what they’re doing.  I got up on my second try.  I even caught a few waves all on my own.  I would say I caught at least 15 waves during our 40 min in the water. The first try i jumped up on my knees.  Natural reaction I guess. The Hubby got up on his first try.  Practice on the beach made it a lot easier once we got out there.  I use to go to the beach every year No Matter What.  Then i got married and it was no longer a priority.  I haven’t had that much salt water up my nose in a long time.  I had a tendency to jump right up on my board facing sideways with my feet flat pointing in opposite directions.  Instead of jumping up in it facing forward on my toes with my feet facing on an angle then slowly standing up while turning my feet and body sideways. (haven’t finished the disposable camera yet, but will get photo up ASAP.)

Our instructor was very laid back.  It seems to be the surfers way of life.  When they’re up their ridding the wave they are as relaxed as they look.  When you’re on the board just right you can just relax and enjoy the ride.  Fun, Fun, Fun, and relaxing yet exhausting.  The hubby now wants to go back every year for another lesson, and eventually go surf in Hawaii.  I’m all for it.  Then i can swing by and say Hi to Stephanie =)

I love being active.  Surfing re-motivated me to get into even better shape so i can surf longer then an hour without passing out =).

    Friendly Competition
The Hubby and I decided to do a little friendly competition.  We threw the scale out the window, but we both know we have a little extra fat we’re carrying around.  It would be even easier to surf with a little less un-needed weight.  So we both pinched ourselves with the Accue Calipers…measured our fat % so every week we can compare.  The winner of the week gets to pick out a RedBox and gets a foot massage.  The winner of the month gets to pick out an activity.  If i win it’s Rock Climbing.  If he wins it’s Lazar Tag.  Either was we will have lots more fun being much more active.  And, it’s a way to get me back to the gym.

    Summary:
1-Loved surfing so much we’re making it an annual tradition
2-Doing a mini body fat % competition with the Hubby
    3-Going Skiing this winter too

Yes, I wrote this early.  I won’t be able to write again until the 27th (a week after my trip) so i thought I’d do a little re-cap of my journey so far.

I started out with a goal of optimum fitness or at least what i thought was optimum fitness.  My perspectives have done a 180 and are still changing for the better every day.

    In the beginning

At first i was constantly checking my weight and even measurements at times.  The ups and downs on the scale heavily reflected the ups and downs in my self.  Low carb diets or diets when i never got a carb all by itself made me cranky and eventually made me crash emotionally and i would ultimately binge.  I had never been “on” a diet before that and finally understood why it was so hard to stay “on” one.

    The middle

Finally realized that at my lowest weight i was not happy and had no energy.  The reason i wanted to get fit was for all the things i could do.  I suddenly realized that i was healthy and that i could start doing those things now.  My ah-ha moment.  Threw the scale out the window…seriously thinking about doing a video regarding body image issues and showing me taking a sledge hammer to the scale.  “Healthy Weight Loss Therapy”  LOL!!!  Anywho,  suddenly i realized i just need to stop planning and start acting, living enjoying, and i did.  I gained 5-10 lbs and then started getting compliments left and right…wow have you lost weight, you look great.  What’s with that =)  OK, i know…i was happy and it shows and that’s what the difference was.

    The End

What??? There is no end…no ultimate goal…the “i have arrived” unless I’m done with living.  There is always more living to be done and each experience adds to part of who i am.  So now instead of planning meals, standing on scales, or staring in the mirror.  I fill my calendar with fun events and experiences.  Couldn’t be happier.  Don’t get me wrong i still pay attention to what i eat…better yet what i don’t (i always forget the veggies), and I’m constantly learning more about nutrition and health.

So here’s to Dreaming, Living, and Enjoying Life.

    What’s on the menu?

5k, rollerblading, ice skating, skiing, biking, camping, hiking, dancing, karate, singing, make my own lullaby CD, painting, drawing, guitar, swimming, teach kids swim, and lots lots more =).

Well as soon as i get home i’ll make sure to uplead my picts and share any funny experiences.  Thanks for all your support as always. I look forward to reading more about your lives as well =)

It’s finally going to happen!!!  I book surf lessons over the phone today with Surf Diva Surfing School.  I’m like a little kid on Christmas morning.  No matter how old i get i still feel like part of me is frozen at age 21 but today i feel more like 16 =)  It’s booked for Monday July 20th at 9am…then if we’re not wasted we can rent the boards and gear for another 4 hours after the lessons.  I can’t wait.  One week from today i could look like this…

Except I’m not dying my hair and….OK I’ll be doing this.  Yippee!  Seriously so excited.  Can’t wait.  And yes, there will be pictures.

    Short Update:

Loving my new Music Express cell phone.  It works perfectly as an MP3 player.  I walked another mile again today and enjoyed every minuet.  It was hot but there was a nice breeze.  It was perfect.

Suddenly I’ve got the dreaming bug.  It’s creating all sorts of new energy.  I’ve been painting, playing the guitar, and just dreaming more.  The latest is a pool.  I would love to teach art, swim, and soccer.  I’m just taking 15min here are there and living more.  It’s great!  I highly recommend it =)  Not sure who doesn’t =)  Have a great week everyone.

  • 02Jul

I’ve had a great week.  I even did a 20min Turbo Jam and ate healthy all week.  I’ve been very active and have just been living more.  I’m painting, singing, shopping, organizing, playing, exercising, oh and and and and in to weeks I’ll be finally surfing in San Diego.  My little sister is getting married and Hubby and I are heading down a few days early to enjoy the ocean and to finally take some surfing lessons.  I still need to work on my push ups, and wall sits.  Either way I’m excited.

I’m grateful for the USA and extremely grateful to all the people who fought for our freedom, and all the individuals who are still fighting for it today.

    Happy Independence Day!!!

I went for a walk/jog with the boys and this time i brought my old Sony “Walkman” CD player. Some how listening to fun upbeat relaxing music helps me breath better and run longer. I loved it. Some how my “hold” button wasn’t working and i changed the play mode to “1″ which i soon found out means…play one song then turn off. It was big and bulky and a bit hard to juggle with the double jogging stroller, but still the greatest jog i’ve had with the boyz=).

Music Fate: It turns out the Hubby and I are due for new cell phones. We managed to get two music playing phones with stereo ear pieces for $12 (that price included shipping). Sweet!!! Now i can easily listen to music when i jog.

I usually jog 1/3 of of a mile on and off and walk the rest. This time i jogged over half a mile. My hip was killing me (probably due to no cartilage in the knee making the impact on the hip a little more rough). Easy solution. Stretching, glucosamine and biking regularly will loosen up those two joints and make it easier. I’ll keep working on it, and if all else fails I’ll get a bike to hook up to my stroller. Either way I’m going to have fun and stay active. I love the way it feels.

I love the outdoors. On the trail by my house I can see for miles. Don’t worry I’m not going to break out into song “the hills are alive…”, it’s more of a “This day is gona to be incredible…” song going thru my mind. Haaaa…breath in that fresh air….hummmm breath out. Now we’re talkin’

    The Give-Away

Zero people entered the comp, so SupplementPricing will just have to get their buz going another way, or try again sometime =)

Hope you all have a great weekend, and even if it’s raining get outside for a while and enjoy it
(just not with any metal umbrellas, or on the top of a hill singing =) Happy Friday!

  • 05Jun

I’ve been running around the house like a chicken with her head cut off, except the head is attached and going a million miles an hour.

    “Work Hard, Play Hard”

Time to go play.  I’ve decided to make it a monthly or bi-monthly habit to get out of town on the weekend and go play with my best friend from college.  We are both the most low maintenance non-drama girls around and get along even when everything is going wrong.  We’ve been there for each other when we’ve both needed it the most.  We’ve also gone years without talking and finally found each other again and picked up right where we left off.  She’s really my sister of choice and I’m so lucky to have her as a friend.

Possible activities on the agenda…Swimming, Health Food Store Shopping (we usually clean them out when we go there), gym, late night chatting, making custom jewelry, painting, drawing, service project, hitting the local farmers market, talking, and researching her biz idea.

Either every time i spend time with here i feel like a better person.  We both amplify and edify the best in each other.  It’s one of the healthiest, uplifting relationships, and the one I’m truly blessed to have.

I’m learning that life is short…at least when your not making the most out of very moment, and every relationship.  Leave the past in the past and slow down and enjoy life.  Enjoy being you, enjoy laughing at the funny things, even if your the only one who finds them funny (my mind wanders and i have a strange sense of humor).  Don’t be afraid to true to yourself, your personality, your values, your talents, and walk tall.

Wow, that’s a heavy pep talk i just gave myself.  Definitely optimistic today.  I guess my spark for life is back, and can’t help but share.

Thanks fitness bloggers for all your inspiring posts, and sharing your experiences with me.

    HAPPY FRIDAY!!!
