This week I did great! Sugar always triggers migraines for me and I know I’m totally addicted to chocolate. I planned on having quite a few headaches coming off sugar. I replaced my sugar cravings with natural snacks like fruit and lots of water to prevent dehydration headaches as well. I also took Tylenol and when the headaches got real bad a half a glass of my favorite caffeine beverages Dr. Pepper. The second and third days were the hardest. Then it was almost easy.

The struggles were family and friend get-togethers. I was offered all sorts of candy, brownies, and cookies. Every time I would simply say, “No thanks.” If they asked why…I just told them, “I’m off sugar”. It’s funny some of the reactions I got. Some people would defend their reasons for eating dessert, and others would ask if I was diabetic. I realize many people will not understand and that’s fine. Hey, I have nothing against eating a real good dessert…in fact if I’m going to eat something that’s unhealthy it better be one of my favorites. For the next three months however, it will all have to wait. Who knows, maybe by then I’ll love my results so much it won’t be something I crave any more.

Oh I did accidentally eat a cream puff that my son didn’t like. “Old habits die hard”. At least I noticed I was eating it. It was the marshmallow-covered brownies that were real tempting. But I came out of this week on top as far as sugar was concerned.
