Yes, I wrote this early. I won’t be able to write again until the 27th (a week after my trip) so i thought I’d do a little re-cap of my journey so far.
I started out with a goal of optimum fitness or at least what i thought was optimum fitness. My perspectives have done a 180 and are still changing for the better every day.
In the beginning
At first i was constantly checking my weight and even measurements at times. The ups and downs on the scale heavily reflected the ups and downs in my self. Low carb diets or diets when i never got a carb all by itself made me cranky and eventually made me crash emotionally and i would ultimately binge. I had never been “on” a diet before that and finally understood why it was so hard to stay “on” one.
The middle
Finally realized that at my lowest weight i was not happy and had no energy. The reason i wanted to get fit was for all the things i could do. I suddenly realized that i was healthy and that i could start doing those things now. My ah-ha moment. Threw the scale out the window…seriously thinking about doing a video regarding body image issues and showing me taking a sledge hammer to the scale. “Healthy Weight Loss Therapy” LOL!!! Anywho, suddenly i realized i just need to stop planning and start acting, living enjoying, and i did. I gained 5-10 lbs and then started getting compliments left and right…wow have you lost weight, you look great. What’s with that =) OK, i know…i was happy and it shows and that’s what the difference was.
The End
What??? There is no end…no ultimate goal…the “i have arrived” unless I’m done with living. There is always more living to be done and each experience adds to part of who i am. So now instead of planning meals, standing on scales, or staring in the mirror. I fill my calendar with fun events and experiences. Couldn’t be happier. Don’t get me wrong i still pay attention to what i eat…better yet what i don’t (i always forget the veggies), and I’m constantly learning more about nutrition and health.
So here’s to Dreaming, Living, and Enjoying Life.
What’s on the menu?
5k, rollerblading, ice skating, skiing, biking, camping, hiking, dancing, karate, singing, make my own lullaby CD, painting, drawing, guitar, swimming, teach kids swim, and lots lots more =).
Well as soon as i get home i’ll make sure to uplead my picts and share any funny experiences. Thanks for all your support as always. I look forward to reading more about your lives as well =)

Congratulations! Isn’t it great to accomplish your goal?
Hats off–you’ve truly earned it. BTW, although I’m not in SD, the weather is great out here in SoCal

Krystal, I think that is the battle, getting away from all the thinking about weight loss and what you want to achieve and just do the things you love and it will come automatically!
Glad you are having a great summer!

This is fantastic. I love all the activities on your list. Mostly, I love that you see no “I’m there” or “it’s over”–there is no end as long as there’s life to be lived!! You hit the nail on the head. Keep it up, can’t wait to hear more from your adventure.
