This months focus for social health is to smile more. When ever some one gives me a genuine smile I can’t help but smile in return. It’s true smiling is contagious.

Have you even been driving down the road and either something on the radio, something you see, or even something you finally figured out makes you laugh out loud by your self?

It feels good to smile and to laugh
This winter we’re all sharing our contagious colds and flu’s. Now, it’s time to share our contagious smiles. If smiling doesn’t come naturally, try smiling at your self in the mirror. Once you realize what your doing it’s pretty hard not to smile. Some say it’s strange, and it is…but it works. Just from smiling more I’ve had genuine conversations with complete strangers.

I met one lady at the post office and know that she has one son who’s 11.  He goes to a charter school, and won’t be seen in public with his school uniform (which is only khakis and a blue shirt). We came to the conclusion that we both would have loved a nice pair of khakis and a nice blue shirt growing up, and both decided we should be careful not to spoil our kids too much. We talked for a while, which all started with a genuine smile.

A genuine smile goes a long way and really does help build healthy relationships. So, I’m going to continue smiling more, even when nobody is looking =)

Hope you’re all feeling well.  Love, and appreciate all of your comments.  Happy Tuesday =)

Feel free to share somthing that made you smile or laugh recently, or anything that came to mind while reading this post =)

Funny timing on this post. Just the other night I walked into the kitchen and just smiled at my wife and she smiled back and got all happy. She said that smile made her day. Smiles really are contagious and I don’t do it enough :)

SupplementPricing: Thanks for sharing. My little boy just gave me his mischievous smile. Those make you smile but make you wonder what their thinking about :)

I worked in hotels for about 5 years when I was a teenager and we were programmed to smile and greet every person that walked through the door.. that programming never actually went away! Sometimes I find myself saying hello to complete strangers when I’m standing in line at the coffee shop and they walk in.. but it’s so much better than being frowned at so I haven’t worked too hard towards unprogramming that habit :D

I like smiling at random people during the day… back when I got out more, lol. Sometimes you see someone who appears stressed, mad or just down and a warm smile can really lighten up their day. It works for me =) About the laughing out loud thing, one thing I took away from an Anthony Robbin’s book was saying something funny instead of cursing or something negative. I tried it in traffic one day on another long commute home… instead of flipping out or cursing (I was quite stressed then) I said “Bonkers!” and it makes you laugh at how ridiculous you sound, you can’t help it! Or when you’re feeling negative and you shout out “I have the POWA!” Now that makes you laugh =)

Cute post :) I def feel that smiling is contagious! Laughing and smiling always make a day better ;) What are you up to for New Years ?

  • Madison Says:

Hehe i love those times you smile when u suddenly think about something and others around you have no idea what you’re smiling about but u don’t mind bursting out in a random smile because whatever you’re smiling about is just SO smile-worthy.
    anyway, nice post! =)

Thank you for sharing everyone. I’ve never laughed so hard reading comments before.

Kim: LOL!!! I could totally picture that =) Some people probably take it as strange (why is she being so friendly) and others just start right into a conversation with you.

Stephenie: “I have the POWA” =) Still laughing =) Thanks! I’ll try to help some one and cheer them up. Sometimes they just ignore it, which makes me try even harder to let them know i appreciate them.

Erica: If we’re not contagious(the flu) then we’re doing a “LOST” marathon at my sisters with other friends watching season 4 to celebrate season 5 starting soon =). It’s a weird addicting show.

    Madison: “smile-worthy” love that phrase…

So, my problem is I don’t just burst out a smile but a laugh and then while trying to hold it in almost die and my eyes start watering and people really don’t know what’s going on, and they start laughing.

Still smiling from ear to ear. Thanks for all the great comments.

SO glad to hear you watch lost! I LOVE it. I cannot wait for the new season! These long breaks are killing me! Enjoy the lost marathon!

    my answer? YES.

so much in my life makes me laugh and especially rolling around today with my daughter the Tiny Dictator.

she is accidentally and deliberately hilarious.

Erica: I’ve heard all sorts of rumors about what will happen, but i just like to watch it unfold as i watch it.

MizFit: Same with my boys. They are constantly cracking me up. The 3 year old is starting to understand almost every word and now jumps in a conversation when it starts to sound interesting…”Yea, delicious.” Or, we will be hugging or kissing and he’ll yell “I knew it.” I wish i could hear his thought process sometimes.

This is so sweet. Smiling makes the world go round!
