Hi. Chaos isn’t the right word for it. Simply off schedule or away from home. My big sis got in a car accident and i ended up on a road trip with three little ones, then stayed at my grandparents for 2 weeks. It was great i was able to help out and visit with her a lot. She’s lucky to be alive, but now is looking at never doing the thing she loves most ever again, and all because some girl speed thru a red light going 60.  The light had been red for quite some time. Leg shattered. Now a 12 in plate is holding her tibia together with 10 screws, and a fractured foot, blood clots….the list goes on. So far shes good and at least has the pain under control.

During all of this and even with buying girl scout cookies i was able to not gain a lb. I packed healthy snacks and bought a few when i got here.

    On the Go Snacks:
    1-List of my healthy snacks
    2-sugar free oatmeal packets
    3-20 almonds
4-fat free tuna salad packs (gave crackers to kids)
5-dark chocolate squares 60% or higher
    6-greek yogurt
7-Meal Replacement Shakes (EAS light 5g of fiber 15 of protein 120 cal)
    8-Celery and PB
    9-Green beans
    10-Vitamins and Water Bottle

All of these fit in my purse. I have a mini lunch pail (the size of a small water bottle) for the stuff that needs to stay cool like the yogurt and celery, and i just add other stuff to the pail just to optimize space. I do this all the night before so it is ready and i don’t end up eating whatever. I even have my oatmeal ready to go the night before.

    Ordering Healthy:
grilled chicken salad (omit the salad dressing, toss the croutons)
grilled chicken sandwich (scrape off the mayo, toss the buns)
KFC Chicken (peel off and toss all the skin first)

Ideally KFC would not be a healthy choice. Even with the skin off it’s greasy greasy. But when it’s the only option I’ll skin it and go for it.

Also, I had one day a week when i just ate whatever i wanted. For my sanity i still had protein and veggies. The idea was to reset my body so it never goes into survival mode while I’m losing weight. That’s when i had the girl scout cookies. It was only one day and then i was back on track. Very similar to Body for Life.

    Starting Weight: 185
    Today’s Weight: 175

I’m so sorry to hear about your sister’s car accident. I’m glad you were able to be there for her.

It’s so hard to focus on healthy choices when life gets tough. Great job! Big congrats on the weight loss!!!

Me too! She still has a long recovery ahead of her. I can’t imagine having my world suddenly tossed upside down like that along with knowing it will never be the same again.
